Why carve stone?

Rocks inspire T Barny. His passion is to bring out the story of the stone he is carving. Margaret Atwood  once wrote, “I just sit where I am composed out of stone and wishful thinking.”   I think that phrase captures the life of a stone sculptor. It isn’t easy bringing life and energy to blocks of marble but T Barny makes it look easy. The sound of the rock breaking is ‘hard’ but the T Barny sculpture that emerges is a “soft”, flowing wonder.
