How a ‘Stone’ harvest becomes a glass of Art

TBarny

It is Harvest time here in Alexander Valley…This year our fire season ended with an Atmospheric River which brought our creek close to overflowing… We survived yet again and are grateful to be a part of this beautiful wine region.

For T Barny Sculpture there is a strong affinity with the wine creation processes. As the Grapes are harvested and crushed, Barny ends his ‘growing’ season of Shows & Sales. It has been a banner year after 2020 and it was great to see everyone who came out to the studio or our first opening at Avran Gallery.

Now, as the grapes are fermenting in their oak barrels and waiting to become wine, T Barny begins his carving season. His 12 pieces of potential sculpture wait for him in his studio; some started & some just a glimmer in T Barny’s creative mind. By early spring 2022 we will all get to view and taste the new vintage of T Barny sculpture.

And speaking of vintage T Barny, this is the last piece finished in 2021. Titled BALDACHIN - 'Ceremonial Canopy of Stone', T Barny says it was a work of sweat and tears and is the largest piece he has carved in 5 years. In fact this piece served as a demo for several Art Trails along the way and some of you may have gotten to chisel a small piece of it.

So have a wonderful Thanksgiving with family or friends and give thanks for coming out of the dark into the light of a new year.
