Syrinx – ‘Mythological Nymph of Arcadia’
In classical mythology, this mountain nymph of Arcadia was transformed into a river reed (or syrinx, in Greek) as she fled into the river Ladon, in order to protect her chastity from Pan. The Arizona Sandstone I carved this sculpture from is often mistaken for wood, until viewers touch and turn the piece.
